Some 101 refugees from Afghanistan were detained in the Muradiye district of the border province of Van.
The refugees were found in a truck that was stopped in a road check at around 5 p.m. yesterday (April 17), the Governor's Office of Van announced.
While the refugees were handed over to the relevant authorities, the driver of the truck and a person together with him who was considered to be an "organizer" of human smuggling, identified with their initials F.Ç. and H.Ç., had been remanded in custody by a court, said the statement.
Turkey hosts over 300,000 refugees from Afghanistan, according to the government. (RT/VK)
