The Out D’Or Awards, which aim to increase LGBTI visibility, were granted in a ceremony organized by the LGBTI Journalists’ Association (Association des Journalistes LGBT, AJL) in Paris yesterday.
Person of the Year Award was granted to Adrian De La Vega, who is a Youtuber preparing videos about transsexualism in France.
In the category of Political Figure, Socialist Party MP Chaynesse Khirouni, who has made big contributions to the improvement of the law concerning identity change of trans individuals in France, was deemed as worthy of award.
Novaïa Gazeta, who announced torture against homosexuals in Chechnya to the world, was granted an award in the category of Foreign Press.
bianet Women and LGBTI News Editor Çiçek Tahaoğlu was also nominated as candidate for the “Foreign Press Out D’Or” category due to her reports on LGBTI at bianet.
