The Ordu Environment Association (ORÇEV) has announced that the Ordu Metropolitan Municipality has not halted a coastal reclamation project despite a court order.
The association has said that it submitted petitions to the Ordu Governor's Office and the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.
A criminal complaint will be filed against the municipality for violating the court order, the association further said.
"We have conveyed the court verdict to the Ordu Metropolitan Municipality, but the verdict is not complied with and a facility is being built by pouring concrete on the beach near the Civil River and in front of the Tayfur Gürsoy Park," said the statement. "Also, the construction of a wave breaker and a fishing port, which are within the project, is also continuing."
Last week, the Ordu 1st Administrative Court halted the execution of the "Coastal Reclamation and Land Fill for Recreational Purposes" project in Altınordu district, which has been partially completed.
The court stated that the project would cause environmental and economic damages and its execution would lead to irreversible damages. (TP/VK)
