Diyarbakır Governorship has announced that the curfew, which began on June 23 covering 39 villages in districts of Lice, Hazro and Kocaköy was lifted as of 11 p.m. yesterday (July 3).
The Governorsip also announced that the operation commenced in the area has been completed.
Human Rights Association (İHD) Diyarbakır Branch Chair, Raci Bilici in his statement to bianet had said that fire has been going on in Lice for a week threatening lives of animals and people.
Bilici noting crops have been burned as well had said, “Some of the villages have been evacuated and that soldiers have settled. Communication is shut with some of the villages”.
Curfew in 39 villages
Villages and district from which curfew has been lifted are as follows:
The villages on where curfew will be imposed are listed in the statement as follows:
Gözebaşı, Gökçe, Boyunlu villages in Kocaköy district
Çitlibahçe village in Hazro district
Villages of Örtülü, Erginköy, Kıralan, Dernek, Yamaçlı, Akçabudak, Kılıçlı, Yorulmaz, Yalımlı, Baharlar, Hedik, Bayırlı, Saydamlı, Bağlan, Serince, Yalaza, Ortaç, Kayacık, Uçarı, Esenler, Ziyaret, Dolunay, Çavundur, Çağdaş, Dibekköy, Yolçatı, Arıklı, Ulucak, Güldiken, Yaprakköy, Tuzlaköy, Damar, Sığınak, Budak ve Kabakaya in Lice district.
Curfews and military operation
Curfew was declared in 25 villages including Oyuklu, Kutlu, Türeli, Şenlik, Birlik, Erginköy and Elmadere of five districts of Diyarbakır on June 21.
Two days later, Diyarbakır Governorship Provincial Gendarmerie Commandership declared curfew in 39 villages in three districts and that declared 21 areas private security zones.
