Diyarbakır Governorship has announced that operations would be carried out in 12 neighbourhoods and hamlets in Silvan district of the predominantly-Kurdish province of Diyarbakır in southeastern Turkey. Due to the operations, curfew was declared as of 6 a.m. today (November 16) in these regions.
The curfew has been declared in the following 12 neighbourhoods and hamlets and will be in effect until further notice: Kazandağı, Demirkuyu, Özlüce, Esenyol, Darıseven, Usluca, Boğazönü, Toklar, Kalemli, Taraklı, Çatak, Çigdemli.
Governorship announces military operations
In the statement issued on its official website, the Governorship has announced that operations would be carried out "in order to neutralize the members and cooperators of the Separatist Terrorist Organization that are active in the mountainous areas and the forested lands, to destroy their shelters, depots and anti-aircraft positions as well as to cease their ammunition".
The Governorship has also informed that along with the planned operations, curfew would be declared under the respective clauses of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442 "in order to ensure the safety of the residents of these regions and the security of their property" and that the the curfew would be in effect until further notice.
