An operation has been launched on the house of an alleged ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) member in Eryaman district of Ankara.
At around 3 a.m. an operation was carried out by Anti-terror and Special Operations Forces on the house of an alleged ISIS member. In the armed fights during the operation, a person (24), claimed to be a suicide bomber has been killed.
Soylu: Suspect was seen in Anıtkabir
Ankara Governor Ercan Topaca stated that they had considered that the respective person could possibly carry out an attack on the ceremonies held on October 29 (Republic Day) and November 10 (Commemoration of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk) and added that the suspect had been around Anıtkabir (Mustafa Kemal’s monumental tomb) and the old Parliament building three times.
Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu as to the operation has added that the ISIS member has been neutralized thanks to an important act of tracing and providing intelligence and confirmed that the suspect had been seen around Anıtkabir and the old Parliament building.
Ankara Governor: October 29 and November 10 ceremonies will be held
Being asked about the ban on meetings and demonstrations imposed by the Ankara Governorship, Ankara Governor Topaca has noted that a misconception was formed among the people that the events on October 29 and the commemoration activities on November 10 would be banned and added;
“Such national holidays and days like November 10, the commemoration day of Atatürk are not included in the ban. The activities will take place. And we as the state will take necessary measures if Allah permits. (NV/DG)
