The police have raided homes in southeastern province Şırnak, detaining many women politicians including Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Cizre District Co-Mayor Candidate Berivan Kutlu and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Şırnak Provincial Co-Chair Ayşe Altay.
According to a report by the Mezopotamya Agency, following people have been detained in police raids:
HDP Cizre District Co-Mayor Candidate Berivan Kutlu, HDP Şırnak Central District nomination candidates Şirin Kılınç and Leyla Kılınç, DBP Provincial Co-Chair Ayşe Altay, DBP Şırnak Central District Co-Chair Nuriye Bilir, DBP Provincial General Assembly member Kumri Yürük, Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey / General Service Workers' Union (DİSK/Genel-İş) Şırnak Branch Co-Chair Zeynep İdin, HDP employees Taybet Bilgi, Saadet İdin, Emine Erkuş, Zahide Kültür.
DBP Şırnak has told bianet that the reason for the detentions is unclear. (EKN/VK)
