A police operation was conducted in Adana this morning against the Seyhan and Çukurova municipalities, which are under the administration of the Republican People's Party (CHP).
The Adana Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Unit (KOM) had initiated an investigation based on allegations of "urban planning irregularities" in Seyhan and Çukurova municipalities. As part of this investigation, simultaneous raids were carried out at both municipal offices and the addresses of 61 suspects.
During the operation, the police conducted searches at the municipal buildings, and 58 individuals, including municipal employees, were taken into custody. Those detained were subsequently taken to the police station after undergoing a medical examination at the Adana Forensic Medicine Unit.
In the May 31, 2019 local elections, the main opposition CHP had won the mayoral elections in Adana Metropolitan Municipality, and four districts of Adana province including Seyhan and Çukurova, securing the mayorship. (AS/PE)
