Osman Ceyhan, heavy construction operator, lost his life after the bulldozer fell down in the pond during the landfilling efforts of Istanbul’s 3rd airport construction.
Following the incident, a group of fire teams, healthcare practitioners and gendarmeries rushed into the construction site in Eyüp district.
The fire teams retrieved Ceyhan's dead body from the pond.
According to news websites, the dead body of Osman Ceyhan -roughly 30 years old - would be sent to forensics.
It was also noted that site managers and gendarmeries didn't allow to press members to enter the site and take pictures of the site.
951 workers died in 6 months
According to a report by Worker Health and Occupational Security Assembly, at least 141 workers were reported killed on the job in June 2014. The death toll in 2014 also climbed to 951.
Worker deaths according to sectors were distributed as follows: Construction (37) with almost half of the cases due to falls, agriculture (29), transport (16) and mining (10). (BK/GOA/BM)
