Last night, a court arrested a suspect in the investigation into the taking down of Turkey’s flag at the 2nd Air Force Command as part of the demonstrations against the killing of Ramazan Baran and Baki Akdemir, in Diyarbakır province Lice district’s police station and high-security police checkpoint construction protest.
Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor Ramazan Solmaz charged with the investigation said the suspect was arrested for helping the demonstrator who took down the flag, according to Hürriyet newspaper.
Four of the five suspects detained in the investigation had been released after their investigation at the prosecution office; an added detention time had been requested for one suspect.
Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor Ramazan Solmaz stated that the court he the detained suspect was sent to arrested him today. Chief Prosecutor Solmaz said the arrestee was not the demonstrator who took the flag down, but one who helped him. (EKN/PU/BM)
