Taken into custody for battering a 16-year-old child for 5 hours because he wanted his daily wage, one of the two suspects has been arrested.
After the child, working in a fish shop in Turkey's Aegean province of Afyon, went to the shop to get his daily wage of 200 lira (approx. 25 USD), he was battered by shop owners Akif A. and Ali S. for hours.
Attorney Elif Tuğba Şahin said that before her 16-year-old client was battered with sticks and iron bars, one of the suspects said to him, "Pull down your trousers, we will make the payment like that."

Speaking about the issue after one of the suspects was arrested, attorney Şahin has announced that they submitted a petition to the prosecutor's office yesterday (March 11) and objected to the release of one suspect:
"It was considered to be deprivation of liberty with force, threat or deception. He has been released on probation on the grounds that the quality of the crime might change in favor of the suspect in the future and that there was no strong criminal suspicion. The child and his family are really sad and afraid. They are worried about their life safety due to this release."
What happened?
The child working as an apprentice at a fish shop in Güvenevler Neighborhood in Afyon was battered by shop owner Akif A. (34) and employee Ali S. (29). He asked for help from the security guards of a nearby shopping mall and was taken to a hospital.
After he was discharged from the hospital, he went to the Children's Branch of the Provincial Security Directorate and filed a criminal complaint. The two suspects were taken into custody afterwards. (AÖ/SD)
