Releasing a written statement, Turkey's Ministry of National Defense has announced that infantry specialist sergeant Serdar Temelli has lost his life in the "Operation Claw-Tiger" in Haftanin area within the borders of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
As reported by the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), "A Turkish soldier succumbed to his wounds from a terrorist attack in northern Iraq," the National Defense Ministry has announced in its statement.
"The soldier was seriously wounded when ammunition exploded as part of a booby trap laid by terrorists in an area under Turkey's anti-terror Operation Claw," the ministry has indicated further in the statement. "Despite doctors' best efforts, he lost his life in the hospital," it has added.
It started on June 17
The Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) announced on June 17 that it launched the "Operation Claw-Tiger" in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
As part of the operation, specialist corporal Ömer Kahya lost his life on June 19, infantry lieutenant Yunus Gül on June 26, specialist corporal Ertuğrul Köse on June 21, infantry lieutenant Harun Aslan and specialist sergeant Gökhan Kılınç on September 18. (TP/SD)
