One person has been taken into custody in the district of Ceyhan in Turkey's Mediterranean province of Adana on the ground of posting an "unfounded and provocative message" about new coronavirus type (Covid-19).
The District Gendarmerie forces detected that 37-year-old L.S. living in İstiklal Neighborhood in Ceyhan shared a post alleging that "there were two coronavirus cases in the district."
The gendarmerie have detained L.S. on the ground of "sharing an unfounded and provocative message about coronavirus."
22 people detained
On the same grounds, one person was detained in Maraş on Marc 17 and one other person in Zonguldak on March 18. In a statement released by the Ministry of Interior on the same day, it was announced that 19 people were taken into custody over their coronavirus posts.
Taken together with the recent detention in Adana, the number of detained over coronavirus posts has increased to 22 as of 9.23 a.m. today (March 19). (TP/SD)
