One prison officer was killed and four others were wounded in a bomb attack targeting a bus carrying prison officers in the northwestern province of Bursa, the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.
The deceased officer was identified as Cengiz Yiğit (36). The wounded officers, including one in serious condition, were admitted to the nearby hospitals.
An improvised explosive device detonated Sanayi Street in the Osmangazi district when the prison officers' shuttle was passing by.
Visiting the scene of the incident, Governor of Bursa Yakup Canbolat told reporters that the IED had been placed at the bottom of an electric pole.
There were about 30 people in the shuttle bus, he said, adding that the perpetrators had not yet been identified.
Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ said on his Twitter account the explosive was probably remote-controlled, according to initial findings. (HA/VK)
