One of those injured in the explosion at the Turkish Grain Board (TMO) silos in Derince, Kocaeli sadly passed away while receiving treatment at a hospital in Istanbul.
Ekrem Kalkan (20), who was injured in the explosion at the TMO silo on August 7th, could not be saved despite the interventions at Kartal Dr. Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital, where he was transferred.
The treatment of five of the injured individuals from the explosion is still ongoing.
13 out of the 60 grain silos affected
In the explosion that occurred two days ago at the TMO Kocaeli Regional Directorate's port silos along the coastal area of the district, 12 people were injured, three of them severely. Thirteen out of TMO's 60 silos were affected by the explosion.
Six of the injured were discharged, and Ekrem Kalkan, one of the three patients in intensive care, was transferred to Kartal Dr. Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital in Istanbul yesterday. (HA/PE)
