Aiming to resolve the issues between the Turkish state and its constituents, Public Inspection Institution is now accepting first ombudsperson complaints at governor offices across the country.
For applicants, more information is available at www.kamudenetciligi.gov.tr and www.ombudsman.gov.tr - two websites that were "under construction" until this morning.
The ombudsperson institution aims to create an independent and effective feedback mechanism for the public sector, as well as to inspect the administration's acts and practices according to major human rights treaties.
In contrast with President's State Audit Institution, the ombudsperson institution has been assigned under the parliament.
The ombudsperson institution will allow ordinary citizens to submit their complaints through institution's website or governor offices. A response will be available within 6 months. Presided by a former judge Mehmet Nihat Öneroğlu, Turkey's ombudsman institute has 6 members. (NV/BM)
