Iraq has declared that it would take steps with Turkey regarding raw oil export.
In the statement delivered from Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s office, it was stated that Turkish PM Binali Yıldırım and Abadi spoke on the phone and “Ankara said that it will maintain relation only with the government of Baghdad regarding raw oil export”.
“Yıldırım confirmed that his country would support all the decisions to be made by the Iraqi government”, the statement said.
It was also stated that “restricting the oil export with Iraqi government” was among the precautions to be taken.
PM Yıldırım said, “Turkey will now run all its economic, business and diplomatic relations with Iraq through the central government” in the statement he issued today (September 28).
92.73% of the participants voted in favor of independence in the independence referendum held by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) that is not recognized by the Iraqi central government. (YY/TK)
