Istanbul 1st Peace Court is reportedly working to issue an international arrest warrant for Fethullah Gülen, an influential cleric whom prosecutors charged within December 14 Operation.
According to CNNTürk, Istanbul 1st Peace Court is reportedly working to issue an international arrest warrant for Gülen.
After drafting an international arrest warrant request, the court will submit the document to Justice Ministry - which will forward the request to Interior and Foreign Ministries.
It was reported that an official request will be submitted to U.S. officials within bilateral agreements.
Return can be request due to passport
Council of State 10th Penal Chamber ratified a decision by Erzurum Governor’s Office to cancel Fethullah Gülen’s special passport - a document privileged for state workers and known as the “green” passport.
Erzurum Governor’s Office requested the suspension of the passport, saying that it has not been issued within the regulations.
After the ruling, the case will return to a local court. In the cases that
Gülen is charged with obtaining a passport with hoax documents, his arrest might be brought to agenda as well. (EKN/BM)
