Following a collapse at a construction site in Ula district in Turkey's Aegean province of Muğla, four workers were trapped under the wreckage.
Workers Cüneyt Ölmez (21), Ahmet Zengin (38), Selim Ölmez (47) and Adil Çomak were rescued from the wreckage and taken to a hospital.
Treated at the Muğla Training and Research Hospital, Ölmez has lost his life despite all efforts. The other three workers who were injured in the collapse are reportedly not in a life-threatening condition.
At least 972 workers died in five months
The Health and Safety Labor Watch (İSİG) has released its monthly report on occupational homicides in May 2021. The report has shown that at least 232 workers died in occupational homicides last month.
The number of workers who lost their lives in the first five months of 2021 was 972. While at least 203 workers died in January, at least 141 workers died in February, at least 144 workers died in March, at least 252 workers died in April and at least 232 workers died in May 2021. (Dİ/DŞ/SD)
