The number of Afghan refugees crossing into Turkey from Iran has decreased by half "thanks to the measures taken," the Governor's Office of Van said on Saturday (August 7).
A new refugee wave from Afghanistan is underway as the Taliban expands areas it controls in the country.
Over the past month, hundreds of Afghan refugees have been crossing to Turkey from Iran every day. Afghans are already the second-largest refugee community in the country after Syrians.
The Governor's Office of Van said 45 abandoned buildings where irregular refugees stayed were demolished.
