The Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau of the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has summoned Fehime Poyraz and Abdullah Poyraz, the parents of Deniz Poyraz, to give their statements.
Deniz Poyraz was killed in an armed attack launched by Onur Gencer in the İzmir Office of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) on June 17.
In the written notification sent to her family, it is indicated that "their statements will be taken as complainants."
Planning to give her statement with her spouse today (September 24), Fehime Poyraz has spoken to bianet. Recalling that the murderer was arrested in a haste without being sufficiently interrogated, Poyraz underlines that there has not been any progress in the file for months.
'She was not killed with a single bullet'
Mother Poyraz says that they do not believe that perpetrator Onur Gencer carried out the attack alone, briefly adding the following:
"There is a murderer, but still no court case. It is not something that the murderer can do on his own without anyone behind his back, he cannot dare to do it alone. He just walks in there, there is the tent right across the street and the police officers are waiting beside the tent.
"There are gunshots, but the police do not allow anyone in. They say, 'There is a conflict.' My daughter was not killed with a single bullet. Bullets were poured on her. He tortures her deceased body, cuts her throat. There are several knife blows in her head. What is it, if not planned? If the police had allowed it when the first gunshot was heard, Deniz would perhaps be alive."
'I won't leave my daughter's case'
Mother Poyraz notes that the assaulter is trying to avoid receiveing penalty by saying that "he has psychological problems."
"He thinks that he can evade a penalty by saying that he has psychological problems," says Fehine Poyraz, adding: "I won't leave it even if I know that they will kill me. A fire has been burning at my house for three months. We don't sleep, I take medicine. I want that not only the murderer, but the ones who protect him be put on trial as well." (RT/SD)
