Nor Zartonk in its statement touched upon the place of the commission in the country’s agenda:
“The Parliamentary Constitution Commission has been occupying the agenda of public and politics by its request for change proposal to lift the parliamentary immunities by means of a temporary clause, which has been brought by the AKP and apparently targets HDP MPs.
“Dropping the deputyship of the HDP MPs and AKP reaching majority with a possible snap election stands in front of us as a high possibility.
“It is sufficient to look at the debates in constitution commission to understand how this matter is vital for the AKP and [Presidential] Palace. It is hard to find another example of a governing party MPs getting this aggressive.
“We condemn the attacks”
The statement indicated that Paylan was subjected to racist and hate speech because of his Armenian identity on May 2.
“AKP mindset disturbed by peoples’ collective struggle and solidarity has this time targeted an Armenian within the HDP, Garo Paylan.
“The AKP government trying to isolate and demonize Kurdish people and their fight in all areas, brought its policies to parliament this time, exposed its racist and discriminatory identity.
“Garo Paylan and other HDP MPs are not alone. They are elected representatives of our people. All sorts of these pressures and assaults have been tried over and over throughout history and remained futile, and it is condemned to remain inconclusive again.
“We as Nor Zartonk condemn this attack which is apparently deliberate and organized. We reiterate our faith in peoples’ equality, solidarity and their joint struggle, and determination in the struggle one more time.
