The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the Nobel Prize in Physics for 2015 to Japanese Takaaki Kajita and Canadian Arthur B. McDonald.
It was stated that Kajita and McDonald were awarded ‘for the discovery of neutrino oscillations, which shows that neutrinos have mass’.

In 2014, Japanese scientists Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura had the Nobel Prize in Physics “for the invention of efficient blue light-emitting diodes (LED) which has enabled bright and energy-saving white light sources’.
The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2015
The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2015 was divided, one half jointly to Irish William C. Campbell and Japanese Satoshi Ōmura ‘for their discoveries concerning a novel therapy against infections caused by roundworm parasites’ and the other half to Chinese Youyou Tu ‘for her discoveries concerning a novel therapy against Malaria’.
Nobel Prizes will be awarded on December 10 when Alfred Nobel died. (YY/BD)
