The Diyarbakır Governorship has announced that the Newroz celebrations to be organized on March 21 are permitted from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Newroz 2017 celebrations are organized by the Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK), Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and Kongreya Jinên Azad (KJA/Free Women Congress).
In the Newroz celebrations, HDP Group Spokesperson Osman Baydemir and Mardin Co-Mayor Ahmet Türk, who has been suspended from duty by the Ministry of Interior, will give speeches.
The Newroz celebrations planned to be held at Kolej Square in capital Ankara on March 19 and Bakırköy Public Bazaar on the same day were banned.
The planned Newroz celebration schedule was:
March 17 Friday: Nusaybin
March 18 Saturday: İzmir, Bursa, Adana, Dersim, Antep, Malatya, Doğubayazıt, Manisa, Kocaeli, Siirt.
March 19 Sunday: İstanbul, Mersin, Antalya, Urfa, Yüksekova, Batman, Konya, Karakoçan, Kars, Hatay, Kızıltepe.
March 20 Monday: Muş, Cizre, Adıyaman, Iğdır, Bitlis, Hakkari, Ağrı, Bingöl.
March 21 Tuesday: Diyarbakır and Van. (AS/TK)
