Kurdish musician Yalda Abbasi from Iran, who was previously taken into custody at the İstanbul Atatürk Airport, was released today (December 7).
It has been reported that Abbasi, who was referred to the Bakırköy Courthouse to give her deposition, was charged with "propagandizing for a terrorist organization" due to her social media posts.
Giving her deposition via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS) as part of the investigation launched against her in Turkey's eastern province of Van, Abbasi faced the charge of "propagandizing for a terrorist organization" due to a speech that she held in a concert in Van two years ago and her social media posts about Afrin.
Rejecting the charges, Abbasi was released after her deposition.
Abbasi has come to Turkey to attend the event which will be held on the occasion of the 27th foundation year of the Mezopotamya Cultural Center (MKM) on December 9. It has also been reported that Abbasi was accompanied by her mother when she came to Turkey.
