Ferhan Yılmaz, a prisoner in İstanbul's Silivri Prison, lost his life on Sunday (April 10), after being hospitalized.
He was among the 10 prisoners who had been reportedly tortured by about 60 wardens for days.
The prison administration announced he had died because "his heart stopped beating." The death report prepared in the hospital, on the other hand, recorded his cause of death as an "infectious disease".
However, a video revealed by a journalist showed he was severely injured in the hospital, apparently because of torture.

The mother of Ferhan Yılmaz, Sabriye Yılmaz (60), told Mesopotamia agency (MA) that his son had invited her for a free visit days before his death.
"I told him I could not go because I have diabetes. Then he wanted a video talk but we couldn't do it because I didn't have internet," she said. "It was two days before my child was released from prison, but they killed my child."
"They hid my child from me. At first, they said he had a heart attack. I called my son to understand what was the matter.
"We called them but told us not to call them. They said, 'Go to the prison,' but when we went there, they didn't tell us anything and they didn't show us [the body]. I didn't see my son's body ... There were many soldiers and police officers in front of the prison.
"My child didn't commit suicide. He had wounds all over his body. They killed him. It was not a heart attack or anything. They broke his nose and mouth.
"My child had been tortured in prison for four years. The prison killed him, no one else. I spoke to him on Wednesday, his body came on Saturday. Why didn't the state call us to offer condolences?
"They wiped our child in front of us ... I will never stop pursuing this case until I die." (EMK/VK)
