Legal or administrative actions were taken against 12,671 people for violating the partial curfew over the weekend, according to a statement by the Ministry of Interior.
A countrywide curfew was in place between 8 p.m. and 10 a.m. starting from Saturday.
In a written statement, the ministry said actions were taken in accordance with the Law on Public Hygiene and the Turkish Penal Code.
It urged people to wear masks, maintain distance between one another and pay attention to hygiene.
Wearing a mask in public places is mandatory throughout the country.
The government implemented a partial weekend curfew for the last two weekends amid an unprecedented increase in coronavirus cases and deaths. (TP/VK)
