In a unanimous decision, the Ministry of Family and Social Services has declared "Heartstopper" (Kalp Çarpıntısı) comic book series of Alice Oseman with homosexual protagonists as "harmful publication".
The decision of the Ministry's Board on Protecting Children from Harmful Publications was published in the Official Gazette today (September 8).
According to this decision, the two-volume series were examined by the Board and it was concluded that "some writing in the books might have harmful effects on the spirituality of the ones aged younger than 18."
The Board has unanimously decided that Alice Oseman's book "Heartstopper" should be subjected to the restrictions foreseen in the Article 4 of the Law no. 1117 amended by the Law no. 3266. (EMK/SD)
