Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ has answered the questions of CNN Türk Ankara Representative Hande Fırat following the coup attempt on July 15.
Some headlines from Bozdağ’s statement are as follows:
* We are planning on issuing a statutory decree and regulate all subjects within this. Our work on the statutory decree is about to be finished.
* The hearings of the trial of the coup attempt will be held in Sincan district of Ankara.
* The detention period will be 7-8 days for now.
* Some could not be taken into custody and have reportedly gone abroad.
* The US [United States] has demanded evidence for [our] request of immediate arrest of [Fethullah] Gülen which the Ministry of Justice will deliver today [July 22]. I can personally go to US for the extradition process of Gülen. The US has a different position today regarding the extradition of Gülen, there are positive statements. The US knows that this attempt has been undertaken on command of Gülen.
* An evaluation will be carried out regarding the restoration of death penalty and only after these evaluation we will know what kind of a step will be taken.
* The Government has taken necessary measures in İmralı [Prison]. [Abdullah] Öcalan* has no security or health problems. (NV/DG)
