Journalist Ergin Çağlar, a reporter for the Mezopotamya Agency (MA) based in Mediterranean province of Mersin, has been taken into custody in Mersin Courthouse as there was a warrant against him as part of an investigation conducted by the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Undergoing a medical examination, Çağlar has been referred to Mersin Provincial Directorate of Security, Department of Political Offences.
It has been reported that the investigation was launched on charge of "being a member of a terrorist organization" and a confidentiality order has been imposed on the investigation file.
It is not yet certain whether other person or persons have been taken into custody as part of the same investigation. (HA/SD)
