The sail training ship "Cuauhtémoc," sent by the Mexican government as a gesture to the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey, has made its arrival at İstanbul's Sarayburnu Port.
The vessel is named after Cuauhtémoc, the last Aztec emperor of Mexico, who was captured and executed in 1525.
Among those welcoming the ship were Mexico's Ambassador to Ankara, Jose Luis Martinez y Hernandez, Consul General in İstanbul, Isabel Arvide, Naval Attaché Captain Alfonso Carrillo Mendoza, along with officers from the North Sea Naval Command.
The ship commenced its journey from Mexico's Acapulco Port in April 2023, embarking with a crew of 266, among whom 140 are military students.
Having set sail from Acapulco Port in Mexico in April 2023, with a crew of 266, including 140 military students, the ship is on its "2023 Training and Education Voyage," during which it will visit 13 countries, with Turkey being one of them.
Locals and visitors alike will have the opportunity to explore the "Cuauhtémoc" from July 19 to 21 at Sarayburnu Port between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. (TY/VK)
