German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said that enacting the bill to lift the parliamentary immunities of the MPs against whom have cases is worrying since it might target Kurdish politicians.
According to BBC Türkçe’s report, Merkel interviewing to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung daily said that the constitutional amendment passed last week might have serious consequences especially in terms of Kurdish question.
She will pass along all worries to Erdoğan
Merkel is expected to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at World Humanitarian Summit to be held in İstanbul today (May 23).
Merkel saying she will pass along all her worries to Erdoğan during her visit in İstanbul, expressing it has been a huge loss to give up on the resolution process stated “Kurdish people must have equal opportunities and a good future in Turkey”.
“Balance of the interests”
Merkel advocating the refugee agreement reached between Turkey and the European Union (EU) has rejected the claims that the EU has been made to be dependent on Ankara.
Merkel remarking that there are some dependencies but they might be deemed as balancing the interests, reemphasized that all requirements demanded by the EU must be met for the visa waiver to be granted to Turkey.
The revision demanded by the EU in Anti-Terror Law has been strongly opposed by Erdoğan and the government. (EKN/TK)
