According to data based on reports in local and national newspapers and news agencies, a compilation made by bianet revealed that 12 women were reported murdered, 14 raped, 17 wounded and 15 harassed by men in December.
3 female murder victims previously reported complaints from their male aggressors who received expulsions. 1 woman became subject to male violence despite the expulsion warning, while another was battered in the shelter house.
Istanbul listed as number one in the reporting of male violence cases in December.
Overall this year until December, male violence left 147 women murdered, 123 raped, 208 wounded and 126 harassed.
Murder
12 women were reported murdered in December with 2 male perpetrators committing suicide following the incidents. Another perpetrator surrendered to police authorities by his own will. Istanbul listed as the city with the highest murder toll in December.

1 woman was stained despite the expulsion order by the court on an ex-lover, while 2 other killed even though they made official complaints on their murderers.
3 women committed suicide in December due to domestic violence from spouse (2) and an unpunished rapist.
Most of the perpetrators in December were the spouse (5) of slain women.
Other murder perpetrators included husband on divorce, spouse with religious marriage, lover (2), ex-lover, client and family council members in the name of honor.
The data also rated guns (6) as the most frequent instruments of female murders last month in Turkey. Other murder instruments/methods included knife (3), axe and by strangling (2).
The murderers were aged between 23 to 60 years old; while female victims' ages differed from 19 to 57.
Female murder cases were reported in the following cities: Adana, Ardahan, Batman, Bursa, Diyarbakır, İstanbul (3), Kayseri, Konya, Mardin and Van.
Rape
14 women and young women were reported raped in December. The majority of rape cases were reported in Istanbul. Rape cases were reported in the following cities: Adana, Antalya, Diyarbakır, Eskişehir, İstanbul (5), İzmir, İzmit, Urfa (2) and Yalova.
Most of the rapists in November were known by their female victims. December rapists included acquaintances (2), spouse, spouse's friend, sister's spouse, landlord, neighbor, self-claimed cult leader (2), acquaintance's spouse, social worker and unknown men (3).
Most rape cases were reported in residential houses (6). Other rape venues included abduction houses (3), hospital, office, cult houses (2) and in the woods.
69 men were reported detained related to rape cases in December. While 4 suspects were arrested, 1 suspect were sent back to prison where he was freed on parole. 1 woman was reported to stab her aggressor's penis to protect herself.
The rapists were between 21 to 36 years old while their victims' ages differed from 13 to 54.
Violence against women
17 women were reported being subjected to male violence in 13 different cities in December. 2 women were battered despite expulsion orders. One man was reported to beat his wife in the women shelter.
In December, women suffered from their husbands (10) most in terms of assault. Other perpetrators assaulted women including their father, ex-spouse, spouse by religious marriage, lover and unknown man.
The violence methods included assault (14), stabbing with a knife (3) and wounding with a pistol. 7 women victims were hospitalized. Another woman was reported to attempt to set herself on fire due to extreme stress.
Following the violent incidents, male perpetrators were detained (2), arrested, freed pending trial, sent back to prison, sentenced to 3 months of court control and expelled from home.
Violence against women was reported in the following cities: Adana, Adıyaman, Alanya, Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Diyarbakır, İstanbul (3), Kayseri, Kocaeli (2), Konya, Kütahya and Sakarya (2).
Harassment
In December, 15 harassment cases were reported in 6 different cities. 4 men were detained related to harassment with being 2 arrested.
Most harassment perpetrators were identified as men (11) unknown to their victims. Other perpetrators included school teacher, ex-spouse, restaurant staff, student residence staff.
Most harassment cases were reported in the apartment building entries and elevators (8). Other cases included on the phone (4), hospital, student residence, restaurant and clinic.
Regional distribution
In December, 58 cases of violence against women, murder, attempted murder, harassment, rape, injury and child abuse were reported in 24 provinces. Most of these incidents were reported in the Marmara region.
November's 58 incidents were distributed according to regions as follows: Marmara (29), Central Anatolia (7), Aegean (3), Mediterranean (7), Black Sea (3), Eastern Anatolia (3) and South-Eastern Anatolia (7).
