Metropolitan Co-Mayors of Mardin Ahmet Türk and Figen Altındağ received their certificates of election and took office yesterday (April 15).
Ahmet Türk has shared the moment when he was walking towards the election council to receive his certificate on his Twitter account.
Sharing the below video in his Twitter post, Türk said,
"It is a struggle of honor, it is the victory of the seized will of the people. We keep going with our belief in Peace and Democracy."

Speaking after he received his certificate of election, Türk emphasized the importance of "transparency" and stated,
"We have an approach that takes the future of democracy as its basis. We will make an effort to ensure that democracy will be permanent and problems will be resolved in this country."
Co-Mayor Mızraklı also receives his certificate
Being elected as the Metropolitan Mayor of Diyarbakır from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) as well, Co-Mayor Selçuk Mızraklı and municipal council members also received their certificates of election.
Sharing the below message on Twitter, Mızraklı announced that he received his certificate in company of Peace Mothers.

Co-Mayor Alökmen vetoed by Election Council
On the other side, Hülya Alökmen Uyanık, the other mayor-elect of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, as well as some municipal council members were not given their certificates of election upon the rejection of the Supreme Election Council (YSK).
In the districts of Sur, Yenişehir and Kayapınar, mayor-elects from the HDP also received their certificates of election.
Certificate given to losing AKP candidate in Bağlar
After the YSK ruled that mayor-elects previously discharged by statutory decrees during the State of Emergency shall not take office, the certificate of election in the district of Bağlar in Diyarbakır was given Hüseyin Beyoğlu to the candidate of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).
While Zeyyat Ceylan, the candidate of HDP, received 70 percent of votes, the candidate of AKP received 25.46 percent and came second. (EMK/SD)
