According to news reports bianet compiled from local and national newspapers, news portals and news agencies, male violence left 13 women dead, 12 women and two boys raped, 16 women injured ad 9 women sexually harassed in September 2012.
Three women, who were victims of domestic violence, committed suicide. Two of these women had been forced to marry their rapists. Most of the violence cases against women were committed by their husbands. The rapes were committed by men, who were the victims' acquaintances.
One of the murderers had been released as a result of the Law on Supervised Release and another one's prison sentence had been postponed.
1 September

* In Nevşehir province, S.G. (29), an inmate, reportedly raped two young boys (8 and 10 years old) and his aunt on a 4-day permit from prison. S.G. was jailed for child abuse, theft and assault. Police is seeking S.G.
Battery-Assault
* In Antep province, M.K.(44) assaulted his wife H.K. (42), leaving her ear ripped off after biting. It turned out that M.K. relentlessly battered his wife. The latest incident took place after the woman allegedly asked her husband to find a job. Arrested, M.K. was sent to prison.
* In Adana province, B.S. battered his ex-lover S.Ç. on the street. While the woman was hospitalized, prosecutors charged B.S. with up to 9 years of prison.
Harassment
* In İstanbul province, E.E.Ş. was subjected to harassment by a motor-biker in front of a shopping mall.
Retaliation to male violence
* In Denizli province, M.Y. (51) murdered her husband Yaşar Kulaçoğlu (56) with a bread knife, saying that he battered her for 33 years. A court arrested M.Y.
2 September

* In İstanbul province, T.S. (40) battered his wife A.S. (38), saying that she was using Facebook. While the woman was hospitalized, police detained the husband.
3 September

* In Adana province, Ç.Ç. (32) murdered his wife Hayriye Çal (27) with a rifle after she ran away from beating.
Retaliation to male violence
* In Afyon province, M.K. (22) strangled her husband Şahin Karakuş to death, saying that she was subjected to domestic violence. The woman was arrested and sent to prison.

* In İzmir province, it turned out that O.Ç. murdered his wife Hatice Çetin (20) by strangling with the help of two friends. While the incident occurred on August 28, it was all revealed one of the collaborator friends alerted the police. A court arrested all suspects.

* In İstanbul province, N.E. raped his internet friend P.A. (20). A court arrested N.E.

* In İzmir province, O.Ç. was arrested. It turned out that he sexually harassed his niece Ş.E. (16) for several years.

* In Adana province, S.D. (22) and S.D. raped S.K. (17) after convincing to pick her up from a bus stop and abducting with a car. Upon the woman’s cry for help, police detained suspects. A court convicted them of rape and sent to prison.
* In Urfa province, K.K., Y.A. and A.C.U. raped their internet friendK.K. (17) in an abduction house. While K.K. was found after her family’s missing alert, police detained the male suspects.
* In Antalya province, M.Ş. raped his lover N.D. (17) for 10 days after abducting her to an apartment. He also sold her to a prostitution network. Forced to prostitution for a month, N.D. ran away from her abduction cottage and refuged to a police station. Police raided the cottage, detaining 3 male suspects. M.K. is still on the run.

* In Konya province, B.A. battered his pregnant wife Z.A. (27). Hospitalized, the woman moved to her mother’s apartment after being discharged.

Rape
* In Diyarbakır province, R.E. battered his ex-wife after going to her apartment to see his children. The woman filed a complaint to a police station. However, she was raped by her ex-husband upon her return. The woman requested for protection. “We are keeping an eye on you. Our motorized teams will check your address frequently. We can’t establish a 24/7 protection according to regulation, but there are number available for you to call security units,” police allegedly told her.
11 September

* In İstanbul province, R.F. murdered his divorce-seeking wife Cafiye Kaya with a knife. Previously, the woman sought protection and the husband received a restraint order. It is claimed that R.F. disguised in women clothes to sneak past the policemen waiting in front of his wife’s apartment.
Rape
* In İzmir province, A.G. (52) was arrested for raping his neighbor’s mentally-disabled daughter E.K. (17). A court ordered protection for E.K.
* In İstanbul province, A.E. (45) was charged with systematically torturing and sexually harassing his wife M.G. (39). He is facing a prison sentence up to 15 years.
12 September

* In İstanbul province, F.A. (17) was known to sexually harass women in a park. Upon three women’s complaint and descriptions, F.A. has been captured by the police and sent to a prison.
* In Samsun province, H.U. (60) was detained by the police for sexually and verbally harassing M.Y. and R.Y. Though he was released by a court within controlled release measures.
14 September

* In İstanbul province, A.S.A. (33) murdered his ex-lover Esra Adile Seyfi (23), a policewoman, with a pistol at a bus stop. A.Y., a bystander woman, was also gravely wounded due to a bouncing bullet.
15 September

* In İstanbul province, H.T. (34) murdered his wife Sevilay Tuzluca (26) in her office with a pistol. Left two other workers injured, H.T. attempted to commit suicide after the incident.
Battery-Assault
* In Aydın province, İ.A. (36) assaulted his divorce-seeking wife Z.A. (36) on the street with a shotgun. While the woman was hospitalized, police detained the male suspect.

* In Sakarya province, Ö.D. cut the throat of her mother Y.D. with a knife. While Y.D. was hospitalized, Ö.D. ran away.
* In Kırıkkale province, S.Y.(75) filed a complaint, saying that her husband has battered her for a year.

* In Tekirdağ province, M.B. (36) battered his wife Fatma Bilgin to death. It turned out that he was detained for domestic violence charges and released within controlled freedom measures. A court arrested M.B.

* In Aksaray province, M.U.(67) murdered his wife Asuman Uz (41) with a knife, saying that she was cheating on him. It turned out that the couple had violent arguments history which required police intervention.

* In Antalya province, it turned out that M.S. (17) has raped his sister Ö.S. (17) for a long time. While M.S. was released after his testimony to a prosecutor, Ö.S. has been put under state shelter until the end of trial.
Suicide
* In İstanbul province, M.C. (44) committed suicide by the result of domestic violence. It turned out that that she left her husband and moved to her parents’ apartment previously. Later on, she reportedly compromised with her husband and returned home. However, she filed a complaint to the police as domestic violence resumed. Lastly, she withdrew her complaint.

* In Eskişehir province, Y.E. murdered his recently divorced wife Iraz Ekinci (28) with a pistol. It turned out that he battered her on the street after the divorce and received 1 month prison sentence - which was suspended for a year. Following the incident, he was arrested and sent to Eskişehir H Type Prison. In addition to that, sources say that Y.E was charged with life sentence for “attempted murder” in another case. While he received 5 years of prison in that case, his case is still awaiting at Turkey’s Supreme Court of Appeals.
* In Afyon province, B.S. (32) murdered his wife Sultan Solmaz (43) with a knife as they were drafting their divorce statement to an advocate in his office. Following the incident, B.S. ran way. Police is still seeking B.S.
* In Kırklareli province, M.D. (35) murdered his wife Selda Duman (34) with a rifle.
Rape
* In Antalya province, N.Y, a vice administrator of Athletics of Turkish National Team and a sport teacher for middle schoolers, has been detained for allegedly raping M.Ş. (17), a former national athlete, over three years. "He raped me in the name of giving me an injection and then threatened me not to tell anyone,” M.Ş. said. Pleaded not guilty, N.Y was arrested by a court.
* In İstanbul province, V.A., raped his friend P.Ç. in his apartment. Pending a trial, V.A. was charged with 9.5 up to 19 years of prison sentence.

* In Ankara province, M.Ö. (43) murdered his wife Zülfiye Öztürk (35) with a pistol, saying that “she bought a new phone to cheat on him”. It turned out that the couple applied for divorce and then abandoned the pursuit. A court arrested M.Ö.

* In İstanbul province, H.B.(20) committed suicide following a life threat phone from her husband İ.B. It turned out that she was forced to marry İ.B. who previously raped her. Throughout their marriage, H.B. was allegedly subjected to domestic violence. While she filed for divorce and alimony, İ.B. made threatening phone calls.

* In Çorum province, K.A. (21) assaulted his uncompromising ex-wife A.A. (18) with a knife. The woman was hospitalized. “My son did everything for his honor and humility. He could not finish what he started but this should mark as example for everyone,” K.A.’s father Z.A. said while his son was being transferred to a courthouse.

* In Diyarbakır province, A.T. sexually harassed R.B. who was working at a children’s hospital.

* In Adana province, K.U. (15) committed suicide after miscarrying her baby from her rapist whom she was forced to marry. Her father complaint to a prosecutor on the husband for murder.

* In Adana province, H.D.(42) murdered his religiously-wed wife Hülya Işık (38) with a shotgun. It turned out that she filed for protection due to domestic violence and she was on her way to renew the request at the time of the incident.

* In Bursa province, E.S. (38) assaulted his wife M.S. (35) in the apartment with a knife. A court issued a restraint order on E.S. Arriving at the incident scene, gendarmerie forces had to shoot E.S. in the leg in order to stop him. The woman said she would file for divorce. (BK/ÇT/BM)
