After mounting claims of "favoritism" in personnel recruitment in public institutions, main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu announced that he would visit the Ministry of National Education to discuss the issue.
After not receiving a response from the ministry to his request for an appointment, Kılıçdaroğlu went to the ministry today (December 30) but was not allowed in.
Speaking to reporters in front of the ministry, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "If a person's right is usurped and it is done by the orders of the Palace, it's my duty to oppose this. I'm obliged to oppose favoritism wherever it happens."
Recently, many people have complained on social media that they were not appointed to the positions they applied for despite getting high scores in the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS). People not close to the government get low scores in oral interviews, according to claims.
"I heard that our children who have scored 80 or 90 points in the KPSS are eliminated in oral interviews. It's a pity for our country," said Kılıçdaroğlu.
He also recalled recently leaked documents of a foundation close to the government, which included lists of people to be appointed in public institutions, including law enforcement forces and the judiciary.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said Kılıçdaroğlu was not given an appointment because "misleading the public."
In early December, Kılıçdaroğlu was not allowed to enter the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) building as well. He wanted to speak to TurkStat officials about the official inflation figures, the accuracy of which were disputed by economists.
