Arrested academics Assist. Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Kaya and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kıvanç Ersoy have thanked for the support put behind them by writing a letter from Metris Prison.
Of the signees of declaration entitled “We will not be a party to this crime” Assist. Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Kaya, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kıvanç Ersoy, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Esra Mungan were arrested on March 15 on charge of “propagandizing for terror”.
Kaya: These tragic days will definitely end
The letter of Assist. Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Kaya relieved of his duties at Nişantaşı University, Department of Social Services after signing the declaration is as follows:
My dear colleagues, Thank you for the strong support you showed as of the moment we have been detained. Kıvanç and me are quite fine, don’t worry. We hope to be with you within the shortest time. We will definitely bring both democracy and peace to this country. These tragic days that we have been going through will certainly come to an end, and we will all together build the Turkey and Middle East in which everyone will live freely and peacefully. Ersoy: Neither our honor, nor pride fit into these cells
The letter of academic member of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, and Education Union İstanbul Universities Branch No.6 Legal Secretary, Kıvanç Ersoy is as follows:
Dear friends, I and my friend Assist. Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Kaya are being locked at Metris T Type Closed Penal Institution No.1 since our unlawful arrest on March 15, 2016. We would like you to know neither our consciousness, nor pride, nor determinate stance fit into these cells.
