Looking into cases of feminicide and male violence, including the trial over the feminicide of Şule Çet, lawyer Umur Y. is facing an investigation on the grounds that he allegedly battered his girlfriend.
As reported by Gökçer Tahincioğlu from T24, law apprentice P.S. filed a criminal complaint against Y. by saying that she and Y. had broken up some time ago and Y. battered her afterwards.
While Y. has not given his statement at the police station, he will reportedly depose at the prosecutor's office. Giving a statement as a witness, their mutual friend has confirmed that Y. battered P.S.
According to the police minutes about the incident, law apprentice P.S., in her petition of criminal complaint against the male lawyer, has said that she and Umur Y. had been together and living in the same residence for nearly a year, they decided to break up following a fight and started living in separate residences and Y. had difficulty accepting this situation.
P.S. has said that Y. came to the residence where she was living with her friend on July 28 and wanted to talk, their friends left them alone, they started talking and then, had an argument. Following this argument, Y. battered P.S., according to the woman's statement. (EMK/SD)
