Dengir Mir Mehmet Fırat, Vice Chairperson of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), has been removed from his position at the Central Executive Committee meeting and former Minister of Interior Abdülkadir Aksu has become the new Vice Chairperson responsible for the political and legal matters.
According to the internet site of daily Hurriyet, Fırat was removed from his position for health reasons.
Recently, Fırat’s having a meal with the deputies of the Democratic Society Party (DTP) and the corruption accusations by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu of the People’s Republican Party had sparked some discussions about him.
There were some other changes as well:
Bülent Gedikli filled the position of Vice Chairperson responsible for the economic matters, which was vacated as Şaban Dişli before him had to resign because of Kılıçdaroğlu’s corruption accusation.
Balıkesir deputy Edip Uğur took Gedikli’s former position of the Presidency for the Financial and Administrative Matters. (TK/TB)
