Dmitri Peskov, Spokesperson of the Russian President Vladimir Putin has made a statement regarding the murder of Russian Ambassador to Turkey, Andrey Karlov.
Characterizing the attack as a "provocation", Peskov said that the two countries would together investigate who was behind the attack and gave the message "let's be patient".
Some highlights from Peskov's statements to the journalists are as follows:
"Russian experts are in Ankara"
"Karlov's murder aims at hindering the normalization process between the two countries and restraining the efforts of Russia and Turkey to reach a political solution.
"The investigation will reveal, who are behind this attack.
"Russian experts are in Ankara right now. Yesterday (December 19), the heads of the states had agreed on running a joint study. Let's be patient and wait for the experts to complete their studies".
Matvienko: A matter of honour
Chairman of the Russian Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko has also stated that the security forces with the contribution of Russian experts needed to do everything necessary to find the ones responsible of the attack and added "This is a matter of honour".
Speaking at the press conference, Matvienko has judged the Karlov's murder as a planned provocation against the normalization of Russia-Turkey relations. (EKN/DG)
