Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chair, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has been threatened with bullet at the funeral in Fatih Mosque of the two police officers, Gökhan Topçu and Kadir Cihan Karagözlü who lost their lives in the bomb attack launched in Vezneciler district of İstanbul.
While Kılıçdaroğlu was protested at entrance and exit of the mosque, CHP’s wreath was rent.
During the incidents, İstanbul Security Directorate Chief, Mustafa Çalışkan taking the microphone said, “Let’s be respectful. There is no place for hassling, rending wreath in our custom. There are protocol and occupational authorities here”.
“A group provoked”
Kılıçdaroğlu expressing that security officials warned him ahead of the funeral to not attend it since “some might throw stones, eggs at him”, spoke as follows on the way out of Fatih Mosque:
“I am conveying my respects to the community. The community respectfully performed the prayer but 5-6 people mingling in them provoked.
“They tried to incite people by shouting. You can’t do politics in mosque.
“After the prayer, one person shouting right behind the protocol threw bullet at me as passing by former president, prime minister and minister of interior.
“If I am going to die for my people, then I’ll lay down my life. What upsets me is that all these incidents take place right in front of the security and in its coordination”. (EKN/TK)
