Kurdistan People’s Defence Forces (HPG) Commander Murat Karayılan has made a statement to the guerillas through long-distance transmitter.
According to the report of Fırat News Agency (ANF), Karayılan has expressed; “There was no need to have a war in the cities at this level. On the contrary, if they had a regular reaction, this issue of ditches could have been solved in some way”.
Some headlines from Murat Karayılan’s evaluations are as follows:
* “HPG should step in. Yet this should not be done in a way that HPG enters the cities. HPG will support the self-defence resistance carried out by Kurdish youth getting organized under the name YPS (Civil Protection Units).
* “If the army had not intervened, HPG would also not have stepped in in this sense but since the Turkish army is mobilized with all its resources, then we will also have to intensify the process. In other words, the army is fighting against the youth with everything it has. However there was no need to have a war in the cities at this level. On the contrary, if they had a regular reaction, this issue of ditches could have been solved in some way.
* “Our people’s demand for autonomy is a universal right. Every different culture and language on earth coexist with the formula of autonomy”.
Karayılan has noted that the solution could be reached by liberating Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan and agreeing to Kurds’ autonomy. (NV/DG)
