Kaos GL Turns 23

Published first on September 20, 1994, Kaos GL (Kaos Gay and Lesbian Cultural Research and Solidarity Association) is 23 years old today. The venture that began with Kaos GL that appeared with the “We live in not only a sexist but also a heterosexist society” motto, continues with the struggles and works that have spread to all aspects of life from education to media, from law to culture and art.

One of Turkey’s first LGBTI organizations, Kaos GL continues to transform life, to learn and teach.

About Kaos GL

KAOS GL, founded in 1994, is one of the oldest and largest LGBT rights organisations in Turkey. In 2005, the Ankara-based organisation became the first Turkish LGBT organization to be legally registered as an association, after their application was initially appealed by deputy governor of Ankara. The organisation has been publishing the journal KAOS GL (now a quarterly publication) since its founding. The group operates the KAOS Cultural Center, which hosts cultural activities, meetings, and showings of films. The center also houses a LGBT history library. (YT/ÇT/TK)
