Ayşenur Parıldak, correspondent of the closed Zaman daily, standing trial on charge of "being a member of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization" has been arrested again in the evening hours, soon after the court released her.
Ankara 14th High Criminal Court had ruled yesterday (May 2) that Parıldak could be released on the condition that she appear weekly before the police and provide a signature proving her presence and that an international travel ban be imposed on her.
According to the report of the state-run Anadolu Agency, the court had decided to re-arrest Parildak on the grounds of new evidence found on Parlidak's cell phone by the Information Technologies and Communications Authority.
Parıldak who was a correspondent of Zaman daily before a trustee was appointed by İstanbul 6th Criminal Judgeship of Peace to the newspaper was arrested on August 11, on order by Ankara Public Chief Prosecutor's Office.
According to the report of the quarterly BİA Media Monitoring Report January-February-March 2017, there are 118 journalists currently behind bars. (NV/DG)
