Dicle News Agency (DİHA) reporter Nedim Oruç has been released in the first hearing held by Cizre Heavy Penal Court.
Oruç was taken out of his home by forces of arms located at Şehit Harun neighborhood in Silopi district of Şırnak province and taken to Yenişehir Neighborhood Closed Sports Hall on January 6.
According to eyewitnesses’ testimonies, Oruç who was battered and kidnapped by armored vehicle form there wasn’t heard of for some time.
Silopi Security Directorate had admitted that the journalists were in custody following the public pressure organized with the hashtag #NedimOruçNerede (#WhereisNedimOruç).
Oruç whose testimony was taken by the prosecution in the Silopi Courthouse he was brought to on January 7, later arrested over “[illegal] organization propaganda” by the court he was referred to.
35 journalists are imprisoned
With the release of Oruç, the number of imprisoned journalists has become 35 and that the number of imprisoned DİHA employees is 12. (EA/TK)
