According to the report of dihaber, upon Supreme Court of Appeal upholding the contested decision of Mardin 2nd High Criminal Court sentencing journalist Meltem Oktay to 2 years and 4 months in prison on charge of "propagandizing for a terrorist organization", Oktay was taken into custody in Edirne province on April 3.
After procedures were completed in the police department, Oktay was sent to Gebze Women's Closed Prison.
What happened?
Meltem Oktay, a journalist at Dicle News Agency (DİHA) which was closed with the Statutory Decree No: 675 issued on October 29, 2016, was taken into custody in a house raid on April 12, 2016 in Nusaybin district of Mardin province where she was covering the curfews.
Oktay was arrested on April 15, 2016. Her first hearing was on June 25, 2016. She was released on her second hearing on August 18, 2016. (EA/DG)
