Police coming with demolishment teams to Küçük Armutlu neighborhood of Sarıyer district in İstanbul, have taken journalist Gülşen İşeri shooting the incident into custody.
Journalist İşeri herself living in Küçük Armutlu isn’t allowed to see lawyers Özgür Yılmaz and Ebru Timtik going to Armutlu police station. Both lawyers wishing to see İşeri have been battered.
Yılmaz speaking to bianet said İşeri has been taken to İstanbul Security Directorate on Vatan street.
Pepper gas on djemevi
Sarıyer Municipality demolishment teams going to Küçük Armutlu neighborhood have demolished three buildings.
However, the demolishment warrant wasn’t shown to the lawyers.
Lawyer Yılmaz noted that police intervened in djemevi where people had gathered following the demolishment with pepper gas.
The intervention continued till afternoon hours. No one has been detained at the djemevi or around it.
Risk area decision cancelled
Armutlu has been declared “risk area” in January 2013 within the scope of “Disaster Law”.
The neighborhood has been under threat of demolishment for years.
Council of State has cancelled the risk area decision in May 2015 as a result of the criminal complaint filed by the residents. (AS/TK)
