Detained in the early morning from her apartment in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır for “terrorism propaganda”, Dutch journalist Frederike Geerdink has been released.
The news broke after Diyarbakır Bar Association Chairman Tahir Elçi sent a message on Twitter on the release of Geerdink in Turkish.

Foreign Minister of Holland: I am shocked
On the other hand, the incident coincided with the visit of Bert Koenders, Foreign Minister of Holland. He learnt about the detention as he was meeting his Turkish counter partner Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu. He sent the following message on Twitter:
FM #Koenders: shocked by arrest of @fgeerdink. Will personally discuss this here in Ankara with my Turkish colleague Cavusoglu.
