"We don't want an apointed but an elected rector"

The İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation against Fırat Fıstık, a reporter for Gerçek Gündem news portal, because of his reports on Boğaziçi University's appointed Rector Naci İnci.
The report subject to the investigation documented that the rector identified the students who protested against him and included his petition of complaint.
The investigation has been opened for "illegally obtaining and disseminating personal information," "disrupting a person's peace and tranquility," and "slander."
Two of the students in question were remanded in custody after İnci's complaint, whiich included the charges of "threat, insult, damage to property, resisting for preventing duty and violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations."
Also, the İstanbul 8th Penal Judgeship of Peace oredered an access block to Fıstık's report, as well as to Twiter posts about the incident by MP Veli Ağbaba and journalist Gökhan Özbek.
Since the start of the year, Boğaziçi University students have been protesting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's rector appointments, demanding an elected rector. (HA/VK)
