The detention period of Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reporter Emrullah Acar has been prolonged for four days.
Acar was detained in a house raid in Turkey's southeastern province of Urfa in the early morning hours on November 19, 2021. As part of an investigation conducted by the Malatya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the journalist is charged with "membership of a terrorist organization".
The Malatya Security Directorate called the family of Acar and informed them that his detention period has been extended for four days.
Since his detention, the journalist has been held in the Malatya Security Directorate. On November 21, his lawyers announced that there has been a confidentiality order on the file. Acar's lawyer Ali Arslan also said that "the security was trying to take revenge for a news report."
